21YO Blonde Drives Orange Gumpert Apollo Around Monaco

Gabriela Jílkova might look like your average 21-year old student. However, she is the darling of the Gumpert community as an official driver hired by this reclusive supercar company.

Gumpert has had mixed results selling its bonkers race cars for the road. However, a young blonde doing burnouts around Monaco is one easy way to get everybody's attention.

Gabriela has been involved in motorsport since the age of 5. She started off with karting and later moved to single-seaters in the R Endurance Cup. She's also been a Clio RS driver for Red Bull. So burnouts and dealing with slow-moving traffic in Monaco isn't a challenge that's well suited for her.

It's a little stupid to give her more attention just because she's a 21-year old blonde from the Czech Republic driving a supercar with a roof scoop. But "bold, middle-aged man drive supercar in Monaco" isn't really that newsworthy.

This isn't your average car either. The Apollo is not designed to be as easy to drive as a Bentley Continental GT. It looks like an old Group C racer for the road, and it drives like one too.

The Gumpert company was started by a man called Roland Gumpert, who rank Audi's motorsport back in the 1980s. His creation gained instant recognition when the relatively unknown Apollo appeared on Top Gear and set a record lap.

Over the years, the monster evolved but still looks a lot like it did when Clarkson made fun of it all those years ago. With a curb weight of 1200 kg, the Apollo is about as light as a Clio RS, yet it's powered by a 4.2-liter twin turbo V8 and can do 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3 seconds. Around the Nurburgring, it's also faster than the Porsche 918 Spyder, Dodge Viper ACR or the LFA Nurburgring Edition.
