Confederate Motors announces that they take preorders for the new X132 Hellcat Speedster muscle bike, with a $10,000 (€7,450) deposit for the whole $65,000 (€48,450) bill you’ll get in the end. Definitely not the cheapest commuter out there, but if you know anything about Confederate, you should know this is an affordable machine. Plus, it will only be available to 65 lucky (and wealthy) customers, making you elite-class the moment you get the papers, plate and the keys.
However, this money brings you one hell of a ride. Powered by an 121 hp 2,163cc (132 cui) injected v-twin, whose one-piece forged crankshaft conveys a peak torque of 140 lb-ft (190Nm), mated to a 5-speed drag racing transmission, everything loaded in a proprietary X-Vault unitized case in CNC machines 6061 aircraft –grade aluminium.
The frame is TIG-welded in-house by hand in wall hard steel, and rolls with a custom 48mm WP fork with adjustable compression and rebound, complemented by a special Race Tech coil-over-shock adjustable damper. Dual Beringer 4-pot monobloc Aerotec radial calipers provide front wheel stopping power, while a similar caliper takes care of the rear disc.
BlackStone Tek (BST) supplied the 18”carbon fiber wheels and they were loaded with proprietary hubs. Metzeler ME880 Marathon 120 section shoes the front end, while a similar 240mm-section one was installed at the other end. LED lighting and a Motogadget digital instrument cluster are also stock, with mind-boggling forward foot controls, a swept handlebar and a really low, cruiser-class 28.5” (72.4cm) seat height making things even more spectacular.
The Confederate X132 Hellcat Speedster comes with a special one-piece seamless handmade fuel tank which is heat, chemical and impact resistant, and sports a clear coat finish over carbon fiber. It can hold 3 gallons of fuel (11+ liters), with the bike tipping the scales at 500 lbs (226 kg).
