2,100 HP Manual Toyota Supra Does Ridiculous Wheelie for One-Second 0-60 MPH

Even though going over the 2,000 horsepower mark is always going to be impressive, the fact that Toyota's 2JZ straight-six engine can be pushed to insane amounts of power is not a secret anymore.

However, when those numbers are achieved in a car fitted with a manual transmission, allow us to be at least a little in awe. We can drive shift, it's not about that, we actually learned to drive like that, but that's like saying, "Nah, I'm not impressed with Usain Bolt's performance. I can run too." They're just two separate things.

Some of you might even know this car since it's kind of famous. It's called the "Orange Man Bad," and it's based off a 1994 Toyota Supra with an automatic transmission. Since then, it's been converted into a full 25.3 chassis race car with an H-pattern manual transmission, and let's just say the rest is history.

The man who owns and drives the manual 2,100 hp Supra is called Joel Grannas, and let's just say the Orange Bad Man is not his first time doing that. It is, however, the car that brought him quite a few records, with the latest coming this November when Joel and his car ran the quarter-mile in 6.84 seconds with a trap speed of 213.77 mph (344 km/h).

That's the quickest and fastest time for a car with an H-patterned manual tranny (sequentials also count as manual, hence the need for the H-pattern distinction). Before that, the duo owned the record for the first such car to drop into the sixes with a 6.9 run at 194.77 mph (313 km/h).

According to Joel, this progression is not going to stop there. He says the team's plan is to cut that time even shorter, and with Texas 2K21 approaching fast (should take place this March), the target is set for anything below 6.8 seconds.

If that sounds like the kind of thing you might enjoy, give the clip below a try. Make sure you bring your headphones because as spectacular as that wheelie is for your eyes, your ears will be getting a lot more constant stimulus from the sweet-sounding 2JZ. Besides, Joel even talks about the time he shifted from second back into first by accident, so if you want to hear what the engine sounds like at 12,500 rpm, now's your chance.
