He became the world's youngest rider to win a premier-class race, as he claimed victory at the GP of the Americas at 20 years and 63 days of age, surpassing the long-standing record of Freddie Spencer.

He also became the youngest rider ever to lead the championship after his initial two podiums in 2013. The same went for his dual podiums in the premier-class, breaking Lorenzo's 2008 record at Estoril.
