Rumors surrounding a possible revival of the hatchback body style over at Alfa Romeo have fueled rendering artists to give it a shot at trying to imagine what the alleged next-gen Giulietta might look like.
Kdesign's take on the Italian compact model that would bring the battle to the Mercedes A-Class, Audi A3 Sportback, and BMW 1 Series is on the simple side of things when it comes to the looks part and also the underpinnings.

First things first, let's talk about the design, whose face came straight from the facelifted Giulia sports sedan. It has the same headlights, grille, and bumper, and a similar hood. Further back, it copies the door design of its larger sibling, and the same goes for the taillights and lower part of the rear bumper, complete with the aggressive diffuser and dual oval tailpipes.

The wheels are obviously from Alfa Romeo's stable, and the pixel manipulator chose to give it a green paint finish with a satin look. The usual trimmings have a black hue for a sportier overall appearance, and the privacy windows complete the virtual makeover of the car that manages to look both exciting and bland at the same time.

You may want to blame the bland part on the supposed underpinnings used for these CGIs, as it was based on the latest-gen Peugeot 308. Just like Alfa Romeo, the French company is part of Stellantis' portfolio, and this move would allow the Italian marque to offer a new hatchback without spending a ginormous amount of money on the development.

At the same time, a Peugeot 308-based Alfa Romeo Giulietta (or whatever it will be called) would only have to be a bit pricier than the French hatch while offering a plethora of premium features sprinkled with the latest tech and safety gear and wrapped in a comfortable and eye-catching package. That is a must if it wants to take a swing at the premium rivals mentioned above, and it would have to be very darn good to steal some sales.

In terms of power, the hypothetical successor to the Giulietta would need zero-emission assemblies, as Alfa Romeo wants to go fully electric from 2027. Nonetheless, some think it might launch with internal combustion engines, too, at least at first, and building it on the STAL Medium architecture of the latest battery-electric 308 seems like the logical move. The platform is bound to spawn more models, like the upcoming Lancia Delta and likely the next-gen Opel Astra.

Any new potential model that's not a crossover tends to get our hearts racing these days, and if Alfa Romeo plays it safe with the rumored hatchback, then it might end up with a moneymaker. But would you buy it over a Merc, a BMW, or an Audi?
