2024 Kia Niro Hybrid Adjusts for Inflation With Higher Prices Across the Range

It's been almost a year since the new-gen Kia Niro Hybrid went on sale in the United States, and the electrified crossover has now entered the 2024 model year. You won't be able to tell it apart from the 2023MY as it is virtually identical, though that does not mean it hasn't received any novelties.

Mind you, the list of new features is very scarce, as it includes a dual-level cargo floor. This is standard across the range save for the entry-level grade. This is the only thing that was added to the crossover, which is not available in the Fire Orange Metallic exterior paint finish anymore.

The family comprises five trim levels, which are the LX, EX, EX Touring, SX, and SX Touring. And if you must know, the 2024 Kia Niro is now more expensive. The previous LX and EX were available from $26,490 and $29,090, respectively, excluding the $1,295 destination charge. The SX was offered from $32,490.

As for the 2024 Niro LX, it now starts at $26,840. The mid-range EX is a $29,540 affair, and for the SX, you're looking at a minimum of $32,940. The EX Touring and SX Touring have respective MSRPs of $31,840 and $35,240. All prices exclude the destination charge, which has gone up by $100 to $1,325.

Kia hasn't detailed the trim levels in the press release, but a quick look on the official website reveals the LX has an 8-inch touchscreen display, smartphone integration, dual-zone climate control, rear privacy windows, and several safety assistance items. The EX brings a 10.25-inch infotainment system with Kia Connect and satellite radio, smart key, remote engine start, a wireless charging pad, electrically adjustable driver's seat, heated front seats, and SynTex & cloth upholstery, as well as more safety systems.

Choosing the EX Touring means getting 18-inch alloys, LED fog lamps, glossy black exterior trim, power-folding side mirrors, sports pedals, and LED lighting on the inside. The SX brings an electric tailgate, a power sunroof, ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel, digital key, and premium audio, among others. The SX Touring adds 18-inch wheels, sports pedals, and LED projector headlights.

The same self-charging assembly supplies the firepower. It is a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor that generates 43 hp (44 ps/32 kW). The 2024 Kia Niro Hybrid, just like the 2023 model year, enjoys a total of 139 hp (141 ps/104 kW) and 195 pound-feet (264 Nm) of torque. The thrust goes to the front axle via a six-speed automatic transmission with dual clutch.

The EPA-estimated fuel consumption is rated at 53/54/53 mpg (4.44/4.36/4.44 l/100 km) in city/highway/combined on the LX, EX, and SX, with the EX Touring and SX Touring returning 53/45/49 mpg (4.4/5.2/4.8 l/100 km).

Prices for the Niro PHEV and Niro EV will be announced at a later date.
