The 2024 Cupra Leon Sportstourer has new headlamps of slightly bigger proportions with different LED DRL graphics that kind of send Porsche vibes. The grille is on the minimalist side, and to compensate for it, they've made the lower central air intake in the new bumper bigger. The side vents have a more aggressive shape, and the hood appears to be identical. The updates continue at the rear with the new taillights, bumper, and diffuser, though making out the differences is close to impossible due to the trippy camouflage.
Spinning around the red brake calipers, the wheels are different from the ones equipping the previously scooped tester we covered back in April, and they still had sensors attached to them. As for the profile, it will be the same, and that includes the lines on the doors, side skirts, handles, roof rails, and window trim, as this is a mid-cycle refresh and not a new generation of the car. Cupra might round things off on the outside with potentially new colors added to the palette and probably new wheel designs, though that's our two cents and should be taken accordingly.
Our man with the cam couldn't get close enough to the prototype to take a few pictures of the cockpit, but we wouldn't expect any significant updates here either. In all likelihood, the auto firm might give it a new steering wheel, an updated center console, and new infotainment system software, and it should dress several elements in the typical copper trim that has almost become synonymous with Cupra. After all, cupra is the Latin name for copper.
Engine-wise, the 2024 Leon Sportstourer will probably retain the current car's units. These include the 1.5-liter TSI four-pot and the 2.0L TSI, with 150 and 190 ps (148-187 hp/110-140 kW), respectively. The VZ packs a 310 ps (306 hp/228 kW) four-banger. A pair of plug-in hybrids, with up to 245 ps (242 hp/180 kW) in the range-topping form, round off the offering. That doesn't mean, however, that certain engines won't be slightly updated to become greener and less thirsty, but we will find out if that's the case when the car premieres, presumably sometime in 2024.
