Hyundai has kicked off the teasing game for the Ioniq 6, ahead of its official unveiling scheduled for later this month, by releasing a design sketch with emphasis on its streamlined silhouette.
Obviously inspired by the Prophecy Concept shown a little over two years ago, it has a very curvaceous profile in the picture released by the Korean company recently, a set of big wheels filling the arches, and a spoiler out back that is more visible here than in the scoops.
Now, speaking of spy shots, it is obvious that Hyundai’s upcoming electric sedan will look different than what they’re trying to portray it as. For one, the front and rear ends are not that arched, and neither is the roofline. Also, the window line looks much taller on the prototypes, which also feature a pair of small LED headlights, and likely slim LED taillights flanking the corporate logo at the rear, with the license plate holder sitting in the bumper.
Inside, the Ioniq 6 is expected with a floating center console that could slide backward and forward, just like the one in the Ioniq 5. A big infotainment system, sitting next to the digital instrument cluster, and head-up display will be the dominating gizmos inside. In all likelihood, range-topping versions of the car might be offered with side cameras instead of traditional mirrors.
Based on the E-GMP architecture, shared with other electric vehicles in the Hyundai-Kia family, the Ioniq 6, which will inevitably gun for the likes of the Tesla Model 3, will pack a 77.4 kWh battery, powering two different assemblies. Here, the automaker has already confirmed a single-motor, generating 215 hp, and a dual-motor system with a total output of 308 hp. The targeted range is understood to be up to 300 miles (483 km) on a full charge.
