Chrysler said that it’s “bringing the power in 2023,” referring to a final special edition of the 300 before the not-so-luxury sedan goes the way of the dodo together with the Dodge Charger. A teaser photograph of the sendoff model has been uploaded on Chrysler’s website, showing a twin-spoke wheel and a red-painted brake caliper with the Brembo script on it.
The caliper’s design screams V8-engined Charger, but it’s hard to guess which V8-engined Charger served as inspiration for the farewell model. The R/T would be somewhat of a downer given that Chrysler offers the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 and 8HP70 eight-speed automatic transmission in the 300S. In other words, the automaker may have shoehorned the 6.4-liter HEMI V8.

It wouldn’t be the first time the 300 received this engine. No fewer than seven years ago, back in August 2015, what used to be Fiat Chrysler launched the 2016 Chrysler 300 SRT with 392 muscle. The only problem with it? America didn’t receive it, which is a bit of a shame, to be honest.

Engineered for Australia, yet offered in 15 other markets that don’t include the United States, the 300 SRT packs 350 kW (469 horsepower) and 637 Nm (470 pound-foot) of torque. By comparison, the 392 in the Charger Scat Pack churns out 485 horsepower and 475 pound-foot (644 Nm) of torque.

Be that as it may, don’t you feel that Chrysler is capable of doing much better? The question is, can we dream of a Hellcat-engined Chrysler 300?

The aftermarket has already done it, and considering the platform it shares with the Charger, why not? The Auburn Hills-based automaker would finally make the 300 relevant again with the 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI that wowed everyone when it was launched in 2014 for model year 2015.

To whom it may concern, the Dodge Charger Hellcat is exclusively offered in widebody specification for the 2022 model year. Priced at $79,445 excluding destination charge, the Charger Hellcat Widebody flaunts, 717 horsepower, 650 pound-foot (881 Nm) of twist, and – of course – Brembo brakes.
