Truckmakers have unanimously agreed that less can be more, so it's about time we showed the Chevy Colorado some love. How? By looking past the outdated current generation to give you a preview of what's coming.
To say that the Colorado pickup is an old design would be an understatement. The midsize model was revealed for the 2013 model and never looked that fresh. But Chevrolet does know how to spice things up in the design department.

Kleber Silva tried to imagine an all-new model. His redesign mainly focuses on the front end, as budgetary restrictions limit the frills you'd find in the car market. For some reason, the designer relies mostly on the styling from the bigger Silverado truck, but on crossover models.

It's got narrow headlights connected to the grille, a bit like the Chevy Traverse, but obviously less exciting. This crossover was renewed for this model year, so it's a good indication for where the company's design is headed.

According to our reports, a new Colorado won't be available until 2023. That's when the midsize pickup will make a switch to the 31XX-2 platform and start rolling off the assembly line in Wentzville.

The Chevy is also a globetrotter, as it's also assembled in Brazil, where it's sold as the S10. Thailand also produces the midsize model, though that will stop at the end of 2020.

The Colorado is one of the few midsized trucks that offers lots of variety. You can get an extended cab model with the short and the long bed. There are also three engine options.

Base models have a 200 horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder. But most people want the V6 because it sounds like a Camaro and makes 308 horsepower. A diesel option is virtually unique, namely a 2.8-liter Duramax with 181 hp.

The segment is getting pretty hot thanks to the arrival of the hotly anticipated Jeep Gladiator. However, the Colorado will still have to rival the Toyota Tacoma, Honda Ridgeline and Ford Ranger.
