2022 Jeep Renegade Shows Facelifted Exterior, Revamped Interior

Slotted right under the Compass, the Renegade is a B-segment crossover introduced by Jeep in 2014 for the 2015 model year. Already facelifted once, the subcompact utility vehicle has received a small refresh in Brazil.

Locally produced in the state of Pernambuco at Fiat Chrysler’s Goiana assembly site, the 2022 Jeep Renegade flaunts a redesigned front grille flanked by LED-accented headlights. Out back, the taillights have also been upgraded to light-emitting diodes. As far as the cockpit is concerned, the biggest changes are the new digital instrument cluster and steering wheel.

The 40-second teaser video attached below further shows the T270 4x4 badge on the left side of the liftgate, which stands for the four-cylinder Turbo Flex engine and all-wheel drive. The 1.3-liter mill is officially rated at 180 metric horsepower on gas and 185 horsepower on ethanol. Capable of 270 Nm (199 pound-feet) of torque, this lump is connected to a nine-speed tranny for AWD vehicles and a six-speed box for front-wheel drive.

To whom it may concern, Jeep uses the torque-converter 9HP supplied by ZF Friedrichshafen and the dual-clutch C635 from Fiat Powertrain Technologies. The orange-painted Renegade in the video is rocking a black roof and off-road hardware, hence the Trailhawk and Trail Rated exterior badges.

Based on the same platform as the U.S. model and the Fiat 500X, the Brazil-spec variant is flexing an 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system and red stitching on the seats and center armrest. The Renegade is touted as the leader of the compact UV segment in Brazil, which is understandable given that Jeep has delivered more than 350,000 units of the crossover since 2015.

Stellantis, the merger between FCA and PSA, failed to mention any other info that may be useful to prospective customers. We also don’t know if the U.S. model will be freshened up in the following months, but looking at the sales figures for 2021, it most certainly needs a facelift as soon as possible.
