A keen sensation of déjà vu is in order when discussing the "glorious" worldwide arrival of the Genesis GV70, the South Korean luxury brand’s second SUV, in a recent online event. That’s because the company already had a “soft” introduction at the end of October, when it revealed the first pictures and details.
Now, of course, it’s time to delve (a little) deeper into what makes the all-new GV70 midsize SUV tick – at least in its South Korean market configuration. We’re probably getting another release just for North America closer to the start of deliveries.

Because we already discussed the “athletic exterior design” and the elegant interior that’s inspired by something called the “Beauty of White Space,” we are just going to note a few things that Genesis didn’t share with us before.

For instance, the body will have 13 shades, three of them new: Mauna Red, Barossa Burgundy metallic, and Barossa Burgundy matte. They will combine with a choice of no fewer than five interior hues, four of them being dual-tone combinations. There’s also an available Sport Package, which comes with its own exclusive choices: Ultramarine Blue, Obsidian Black, Obsidian Black/Seville Red.

The GV70 with the Sport Package also comes with exterior changes including unique styling perks, 19- or 21-inch Sport alloy wheels, a different steering wheel, as well as optional carbon fiber inserts. More importantly, Genesis offers the SUV with a few elements to support its sporty claims, such as the Launch Control feature (a premiere for the brand’s crossovers) or an Electronic Limited Slip Differential (e-LSD), which is another exclusive perk for the Sport Package.

As far as powertrain specifications are concerned, there are no surprises even though the company withheld the information until now. Genesis will equip the GV70, at least in KDM (Korean Domestic Market) specification, with a trio of turbocharged engines shared with the larger GV80.

The ensemble is thus comprised of a 2.5-liter four-pot, 3.5-liter V6, and a 2.2-liter diesel mill. The base gasoline unit (304 ps / 300 hp) and the diesel (210 ps / 207 hp) are exclusively available with 2WD, while the flagship gasoline V6 touts 380 ps / 375 hp and all-wheel drive with Multi Terrain Control.

By the way, there’s still time for yet another release regarding the GV70 because the company still hasn't announced performance specifications. Hopefully, they will do so when the time comes to preview the GV70 in U.S. specification.
