If you know your Porsches well, you may also know that the 911 GT3 RS and 911 GT2 RS come with one of the grippiest rubber shoes in the biz. Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R is how they’re called, and the French manufacturer is expected to supply Chevrolet with these tires for the 2022 Corvette Z06.
A “streetable track and competition” compound, the PSC2R takes inspiration from motorsport tires. The outboard should feature few lateral notches while the inner shoulder is designed for wet traction. Despite this pattern, Michelin doesn’t recommend using the Cup 2 Rs where standing water is present. Of course, these babies don’t work as intended in cold conditions either.

Muscle Cars & Trucks “have once again accrued new details on America’s upcoming supercar” from “well-placed sources.” They report 275/30 R20 tires up front and 345/25 R21 boots for the rear, a set of Z-rated bad boys that can easily take the abuse at 149 mph (240 km/h) and higher speeds.

A set of carbon-fiber wheels, available as an optional extra, is understood to be in the pipeline too. Ford offers this kind of lightweight yet durable wheels for the Shelby GT500 as part of the $18,500 Carbon Fiber Track Package.

MC&T says that the twin-turbo ZR1 and hybridized Zora will get PSC2R rubber as well. Turning our attention back to the C8 Corvette Z06, active aerodynamics are also expected in the guise of “adjustable wings, splitters, and even side flaps.” Given the complexity of this equipment, it’s likely for Chevrolet to offer the active aero as part of the Z07 Performance Package.

Like the C8.R from Corvette Racing, the Z06 may or may not feature central exhaust pipes instead of two pipes at each corner of the rear bumper. This setup wouldn’t come as a surprise if you take a look at what Ferrari and McLaren are doing. However, a mule spied earlier this year shows the quad-tipped exhaust system we know and love from the Corvette Stingray.

Finally, the flat-plane crankshaft engine is pretty much confirmed by the video in question. Codenamed LT6 and loosely related to the LT5 in the C8.R racecar, the 5.5-liter motor is reportedly good for 9,000 revolutions per minute. Approximately 600 horsepower (592 PS) and 470 pound-feet (637 Nm) of torque are the most realistic numbers we have right now.

Hearsay also suggests 650 horsepower (641 PS) and 600 pound-feet (813 Nm) although the torque figure is wishful thinking. The 5.2-liter Voodoo V8 in the Shelby GT350, for reference, tops at 429 pound-feet (582 Nm).
