Last month Shelby American unveiled the coolest Mustang conversion to date: the 2021 Super Snake Speedster. A sexy two-seater with flying buttresses and a mean face, the Speedster is also a power monster at 825 horsepower. And as it turns out, it sounds menacing too.
Powered by a supercharged version of Ford's familiar Coyote V8 engine, the Super Snake Speedster is your neighbor's worst nightmare under full throttle. The blown V8 purrs like a kitten when idling, but all hell breaks loose when you step on the gas pedal. And it's all in the video below.

You need to hit the 8:47 minute mark for that. The revving doesn't last more than 20 seconds, but it's enough to get a good idea as to how monstrous the supercharged V8 is.

The walkaround itself is interesting, too, as it focuses on many of the small but cool details that Shelby didn't really showcase when it unveiled the car. There's also plenty of cabin footage and an in-depth look at the unique, Shelby-specific extras.

Essentially a speedster conversion of the more familiar Super Snake, this limited-edition 'Stang stands out thanks to a hard-top tonneau system that covers the rear seats. Inspired by speedster race cars from the 1950s, the Super Snake Speedster is the only Mustang conversion of this kind that's an actual production model.

The 825-horsepower V8 pushes the two-seater from 0 to 60 mph (96 kph) in just 3.5 seconds and toward a top speed that exceeds 200 mph (322 kph). Upgrades include Shelby springs and performance half shafts, a rear stabilizer bar, and Brembo brakes. Shelby also offers an optional track-spec suspension system developed by Penske.

The Super Snake Speedster is limited to only 98 units, and the conversion package costs $4,995 on top of the Super Snake. The latter starts from $133,785, including the Mustang GT it is based on, so the whole thing will set you back $138,780 before options.
