Of all the brands in the Volkswagen Group, SEAT is perhaps the one enjoying the greatest degree of success these days, at least in terms of excitement it generates with the launch of new models. Over the past few months, we’ve had the Tarraco FR PHEV, the new Leon (complete with its Cupra variant) and more recently the Cupra Formentor – Cupra is SEAT’s performance sub-brand.
This June, exactly a week from now, the carmaker will be unveiling the new version of the Ateca. The model was introduced in 2016 as a compact crossover, and the new version to be unveiled next week would be the nameplate's first facelift.

In the four years that have passed since the introduction of the current generation a lot has changed in terms of powertrain technology, but most importantly things are no longer the same when it comes to how high-tech vehicles can be. And SEAT plans to bring all those changes into the new version of the SUV to keep up with customer demands and expectations.

“Get ready, SEAT is refreshing its successful Ateca with the introduction of the 2020 version,” the carmaker said in a statement.

“The revamped vehicle will build on its compact SUV attributes, adding a refreshed and more emotional appearance both inside and outside, a fully connected user experience, improved levels of safety and comfort and increased efficiency.”

In terms of engines, no official information about the specific changes has been released for now, but we wouldn’t be surprised if we get to see the new Ateca coming to the world with some type of electrified engine to go with the usual lineup of gasoline and diesel engines.

Design-wise, we expect the changes to be minor in spread, but of high impact. The image of the car’s rear released by SEAT shows a slight reinterpretation of the tail lights, a new font for the Ateca lettering on the hatch, and possibly small changes when it comes to the overall lines of the model.
