YouTuber Street Speed 717 is one of those guys fortunate enough to live the supercar dream, with a garage chock-full of automotive greatness. Because he knows very well how the social media snowball rolls around, he likes to propose challenges for his videos.
The latest has to do with his recently delivered 2021 Ram TRX high-performance pickup truck, which just occupied the last slot available on the driveway. Seriously, it literally took the last space available with its imposing stature, and the vlogger’s recently bought 2021 C8 Corvette Convertible now has to remain at the dealership for a few more days.
We even get to check out the yellow mid-engine sports car (from the 10:31 mark) because the first part of the video is dedicated to catching up with the latest developments in his life as a popular vlogger. For example, we first see him and one of his friends take the TRX for a quick airport trip to meet the winner of his old 788-wheel horsepower C7 ZR1.
The modded ‘Vette also makes a quick appearance for a meaty cold start and brawny drive from the 6:50 mark, just in case you were interested to check out the new owner's reactions. Now, back to those challenges because our resident vlogger has decided to cut off the mufflers of the TRX if the encounter with his own Lamborghini Urus turns out successful.
As to the race itself, we have to say the premise was more than enticing (we know there’s going to be a gap between the two contenders, but we’re always interested in seeing its exact size) yet the execution was quite poor. Sure, this is what usually happens when you’re not taking the shenanigans to the track – not to mention the possible safety hazards.
Anyways, we finally get down to business from the 11:50 minute to see the 702-hp Ram TRX face off against a 650-hp Lamborghini Urus. Naturally, the winner should be an easy pick as the Urus looks a lot nimbler compared to the brick aerodynamics of the FCA pickup. Still, the TRX is more powerful (and heavier), so the challenge isn’t that unevenly balanced as one might imagine.
We’re not going to spoil the fun of watching the series of attempts, but we’re still going to warn you they hold no intrinsic value because of the surface – first they duke it out on a small an uneven road, then on a curvy stretch of highway...
