2021 Porsche 911 GT3 (992) Spotted in Traffic, Has Dramatic Rear Wing

The 992 generation of the Porsche 911 has brought a serious performance boost. For instance, the Carrera S might just pack an extra 30 hp, but it can punch into supercar territory, for instance being able to blitz the Nurburgring in 7:25, which makes it five seconds quicker than its predecessor. Of course, there are hardcore drivers who simply need extra spice, with the upcoming Neunelfer GT3 being a brilliant answer to their needs.

We've been spotting 992 Porsche 911 GT3 test cars for quite a while now, with the machine expected to make its debut by next summer.

In fact, the social media post at the bottom of the page shows a 2021 Porsche 911 GT3 test car that seems to have been caught on camera while doing its thing on the German Autobahn.

Returning to the point made in the intro, I'll mention the generation change has also brought an aero update. For instance, you can now have the Carrera Aerokit, which includes a fixed rear wing that rivals that of past GT3s.

This explains the super-sized wing you can see on the posterior of this 992 GT3 prototype. Sure, the aero element is still camouflaged, but its obvious this will dismiss and cannibalization risk coming from the said Carrera Aerokit.

On the tech front, the GT3 maintains its naturally aspirated flat-six. For instance, I'll remind you that the 2020 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 and 718 Spyder pack a N/A boxer based on the turbocharged 3.0-liter unit of the 992 Carrera S, with the unit delivering 420 ponies.

Of course, the GT3 will deliver north of 500 ponies, with or without the said mid-engined special powerplant.

And while a GT3-specific tune for the new eight-speed PDK is a certainty, here's to hoping the six-speed manual is maintained. In fact, Porsche might even bring back the GT3 Touring Package (think: no fixed wing, manual-only).
