Some very important Mercedes models, such as the GLE or CLA, are only now getting the panoramic dashboard design with two similarly sized and connected screens. However, designers will reveal a new setup only about a year from now when the S-Class comes out.
Oh, the S-Class. We'd argue that it's always lead the way for the luxury car market, being the first to offer many features. The current generation was the one that took us on this path of oversized screens, but we know its W223 replacement will change everything.
It's supposed to have one normal-sized display in front of the driver and another much larger one, no longer connected and placed at an angle over the dash. Though we can only see one display, this next-generation C-Class appears to have the same configuration, as spied by Stuttgart spotter WalkoArt.
In a way, the C-Class is skipping a step, because the current model never got to enjoy the panoramic setup. After the facelift, it has an optional digital dashboard under the normal instrument binnacle and an infotainment tablet.
Styling is also something the 2021 C-Class shares with the next-gen S-Class. Both have large grilles with plenty of room for sensors, longer LED taillights and an elegant front end. The sedans will simultaneously grow in length too.
It's expected that the W206 C-Class will be lighter than its predecessor thanks to aluminum construction, while the platform will be tailor-made for hybrid engines. So no more lump in the trunk like the current C300de.
Right now, Mercedes is probably only working on the normal models, the majority of which will be powered by 2.0-liter turbo engines with mild hybrid assist. The smallest engine you'll get should be a 1.5-liter like in the current C200, while at the top of the range, the AMG should adopt AWD, hopefully without downsizing..
