Despite SUVs and EVs taking over right now, Mercedes is still working almost exclusively on the cars that made it famous right now. We're talking about the all-new S-Class, as well as this W206 C-Class.
It used to be called the Mercedes compact until they launched things like the A-Class sedan and CLA. The upside to that is the next C-Class will be allowed to be interesting and sporty, not just affordable (by brand standards).

The latest spy video from Germany doesn't capture a lot of new details. However, we can see the outline of the lights. It's always said that these are the "eyes" of a car, and we want to draw a parallel with actual faces.

You see, classic animation needed to simplify the eye as much as possible because it needed to be drawn over and over again. So Disney started defining it with just three lines. The "eye" of the new C-Class, meanwhile, seems to be drawn with six, and you can actually see them very clearly here. So the face actually looks different to that of the A-Class or CLA.

Based on previous spy footage, we also know that the W206 (that's the codename of the car) will be different on the inside as well. It's going to have the giant screen on the dash, looking like an open laptop, much like the all-new S-Class. Needless to say, that's not a feature of the A-Class or even the new GLS-Class luxury SUV.

Looking at the car from this angle, we can also see how the belt line bows in the center, creating the illusion of tension. But it doesn't get the pop-out door handles like the flagship, at least not right away.

We know that Mercedes plans to have a lighter but slightly bigger body made of more aluminum than before. However, the engines are a complete mystery. You see, the current C-Class can't really take inline-6 units, which would be needed for a big part of the range. So does that mean most of these sedans will have 2-liter turbo units instead? It's possible. In fact, there's even a rumor about the C63 replacement having the A45's system, but with a hybrid twist.
