Using the codename M156, the sixth generation of the Quattroporte started to roll out for the 2013 model year. The platform on which it’s based is shared with the Ghibli, and obviously enough, the two share a couple of 3.0-liter V6 engines with Ferrari and VM Motori know-how. The Quattroporte, however, also features a V8 option.
Codenamed F154 A, the 3.8-liter blunderbuss made its debut as the F154 BB in the California T back in 2014 with 560 PS and 755 Nm on tap. Even the SF90 Stradale features this engine with 4.0 liters of displacement and bigger output ratings.

For the 2021 model year, both the Quattroporte and Levante will switch to a different engine that was developed in-house. A bit larger at 4.0 liters as opposed to 3.8 liters, the yet-to-be-detailed powertrain is good for 590 PS (582 horsepower) in the Levante Trofeo all-wheel drive. The facelifted models – if you can call them as such – are expected to enter production in July 2020 at the Avvocato Giovanni Agnelli Plant in Grugliasco and the Stabilimento di Mirafiori in Turin, Italy.

From a visual standpoint, the front bumper’s air intakes appear to be slightly different from the 2020 model year Quattroporte. The rear also features two exhaust finishers with four outlets in total, and curiously enough, the quarter-panel exterior badges are covered while the Trident badges on the front grille and trunk lid are not.

The interior isn’t all that different either, except for the touchscreen infotainment system that features the Maserati script in chrome. FCA Uconnect 5 appears to be the culprit, a “global platform” that “pioneers personalization with up to five user profiles plus valet mode.” Powered by Android, the latest infotainment system is planned to be released in more than 150 countries according to Fiat Chrysler Automobiles.

One of the coolest things about Uconnect 5 is that firmware updates are done over the air, not by inserting a USB drive or getting your car to the dealership. Designed for displays as large as 12.3 inches, the system also benefits from wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in addition to Amazon Alexa.
