2021 Jaguar F-Pace Spied Testing In Spain, Looks More Upmarket

Scheduled to premiere by mid-2020 for the 2021 model year, the mid-cycle refresh of the F-Pace promises a lot if this prototype is anything to go by. Spied in Spain in an urban setting, the compact luxury crossover is chock-full of aesthetic improvements as far as the exterior is concerned.

First things first, we should talk through the changes brought for 2020. Jaguar cut back on engine options for this model year, leaving two powertrains for the U.S. market. These are the 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder Ingenium and the 5.0-liter supercharged V8 from the AJ-V8 family.

The redesigned F-Type – due out in 2020 for 2021 – might be using a 4.4-liter V8 from BMW, a twin-turbo engine that puts out as many as 625 ponies in the M8 Competition. The S63 could also serve as a successor to the AJ-V8 in the F-Type SVR, but nothing is certain at the time of writing.

Turning the focus back to the 2021 Jaguar F-Pace, it’s easy to make out the different fascias at the front and rear, redesigned headlamps and taillamps, and the more angular grille devoid of the Leaping Cat logo. There’s even a tow hook coming out from underneath the rear bumper, and from the size of the wheels and tires, this prototype utilizes a four-cylinder turbo.

Different intakes are also visible, and the interior remains a mystery for the time being. What we do know from Jaguar themselves is that extensive changes are in the pipeline. A Velar-esque, hi-tech cabin would bring the F-Pace closer to the Range Rover without any risk of cannibalization given that the customers of these two brands have very different needs and wishes.

The XF is also planned for a redesign in 2020 according to planning manager Wayne Darley, and the mid-size sedan surely needs the nip ‘n’ tuck given the success of the 5 Series and E-Class in this segment. If anything, the Ingenium hybridized straight-six could be an interesting replacement for the good ol’ supercharged V6 with 3.0 liters of displacement.

On that note, watch this space for more pictures of the redesigned Jaguar range as we get them.
