Jaguar may be known for sports sedans that break down all the time, but it's actually doing extremely well in the crossover business right now. Thus, we suspect the little E-Pace will receive a lot of development money for its mid-life facelift.
From the outside, the E-Pace looks like your average CUV, relatively small and over-designed. In that regard, it competes with the BMW X1/X2, the Audi Q3 (and Sportback), plus the Volvo XC40. Its biggest disadvantages are probably the badge or the fact that it's pretty expensive.

What, you guys thought we were going to criticize the weight? Yes, it's been to one too many all-you-can-eat events. Most buyers don't care about that, though, plus the handling is perfectly fine for a vehicle in this segment.

You can think of the E-Pace as a stiletto - you don't buy that with your head. And with a sea of red leather, the little Jag can look like a shoe on the inside too.

So, what about this facelift thing. Well, it's going to debut in about half a year, updating the E-Pace to the latest Jaguar design language. That means a brooding face and new lights, among other things. We also believe the Jag will be allowed to borrow many of the new systems developed for the all-new 2020 Range Rover Evoque.

That means a new double-screen layout for the dashboard, refreshed steering wheel controls, and the ClearSight rear-view mirror. Jaguar might also drop the rotating gear shifter, as this confuses some people.

On the sustainability and fuel economy front, the E-Pace might get an option for seats covered in recycled materials. We promise it's way better than it sounds. All the engines should have mild-hybrid assistance, recovering energy from deceleration. The high-end P300 model should get that in America too, but probably not the P250.
