It's no secret that CUVs or crossover utility vehicles are really big right now. Everybody wants to buy one, and automakers are trying to help their models stand out. The Germans are decent, but if you're looking for good value and impressive design, it's probably going to be from an Asian brand.
It's not a stereotype. Right now, the Mazda CX-5 is one of the best models in the class and a looker to boot. It's certainly our pick of the bunch, although the Toyota RAV4 has something rugged going on too. But the Koreans, Hyundai and Kia, have been at it for a really long time, and the all-new 2021 Tucson promises to blow the competition out of the water.
We've already shown you the sleek model undergoing testing, but the double renderings published by the Russian website Kolesa will shed further light on the exciting Hyundai model.
As you can see, the body of the Tucson looks wide and its front end is very futuristic. We have narrow lights at the top, connecting to a large grille with a 3D mesh pattern. But the real headlights are probably just below that. This design reminds us of everything from the Chevy Blazer to Hyundai and some Chinese cars.
The Russians also had to render the back of the vehicle. But with not a lot of information to go on, they winged it and just gave it pronounced creases over the trunk. Even though the 2021 Tucson looks like it could fly, its powertrains are probably quite conventional.
The 1.6L turbo and 2-liter diesel will still play a big part in the European market, although hybrid or PHEV systems may be offered too. A performance model is possible as well, seeing as Hyundai is reportedly developing a 300 horsepower, AWD setup for the Sonata.
