The Santa Fe is one of Hyundai’s most successful models. It has been at the core of the carmaker’s lineup of SUVs for 20 years now, and with the changes prepared for the new incarnation of the model, it will probably continue to do so for some more time to come.
The new Santa Fe should be available in Europe starting this fall, and in preparation for that launch the South Koreans have begun releasing the first official details about it, accompanied by a teaser showing the SUV’s front end.

The upcoming Santa Fe will be built on the new platform underpinning some of the group’s other vehicles. It will be the first SUV built by Hyundai on the new platform, one that allows “significant improvements in performance, handling and safety.”

More importantly, however, is the fact that the new platform makes it possible to deploy both a hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrain, a premiere for the range. The details of both new systems are yet to be revealed.

As for the design of the new Santa Fe, we are expecting quite the number of changes, with Hyundai saying that the model will bring “a dignified and charismatic” look. We don’t know about that, but what we’re seeing in the official image is certainly something worth looking forward to.

For the new Santa Fe, Hyundai seems to have gone for a drastic makeover, making it much more aggressive that we’re used to. The front grille is large, spanning almost from side to side, and somehow incorporates the T-shaped daytime running lights that start up near the hood and then extend down into the bumper.

Separately, the hood seems to have retained much of its current shape, but what hides beyond it is still a surprise.

Hyundai said new details on the latest incarnation of its iconic SUV should be revealed in the coming weeks, and we expect more official photos to surface as well.
