Let’s face it; everyone looks forward to the 2021 redesign of the F-Series. Not only does Ford plan to roll out the F-150 Hybrid with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 but the F-150 EV will follow suit with Rivian know-how.
The all-electric powertrain option may or may not feature four motors like the R1T, yet that could be the case. Remember that promo video of a prototype towing more than one million pounds of F-150s on rail tracks?

On a different note, the 2021 Ford F-150 also features a redesigned dashboard. Spied a month ago, the Lariat levels up to SYNC 4 infotainment and a digital instrument cluster in addition to a stow-away shift knob. The question is, what can we expect from the interior of the all-new Raptor?

Not this dashboard design, that’s for sure! Penned by automotive and product designer Pablo Doldán from Spain, the high-tech dashboard of the 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor is futuristic and wishful thinking as well if you remember that trucks are workhorses by definition. The touch-sensitive buttons on the steering wheel appear to be inspired by the Volkswagen Golf 8 while the infotainment system resembles that of the W223 Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

The minimalist gear selector is nice on its own but the lack of physical buttons on the dashboard isn’t exactly practical in the real world. Some people drive with gloves on their hands while others prefer to turn up the air conditioning or radio by turning a knob instead of shouting at the AI assistant.

What’s most curious about this rendering of the 2021 truck’s interior is the four-seat layout, two seats on each side separated by the transmission tunnel and full-length center console. On the other hand, who knows what the future may hold for the F-150? These design sketches may be reflected by trucks from 2030 or 2040 given how interiors keep getting smarter with each passing year.

As for the F-150 Raptor that you’ll be able to buy from your local dealership, don’t expect a V8 to replace the EcoBoost six-cylinder engine. The off-road truck will soldier on with the high-output V6 for 2021, but as opposed to the outgoing generation, the SuperCab will be discontinued.
