Revealed alongside the GT mid-engine supercar and Shelby GT350R version of the Mustang at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the latest and the greatest F-150 Raptor is available in two guises. The less spacious and less expensive is called SuperCab, and for the next generation of the full-size pickup truck, Ford appears to have axed this cabin option for the F-150 Raptor.
This information – as well as the lovely renderings in the photo gallery – come courtesy of F150gen14 and the 2021 F-150 VIN decoder we’ve talked about in a previous story. The Raptor is listed exclusively as a SuperCrew, namely the largest cabin option available for the half-ton pickup truck from Dearborn.

When all is said and done, the starting price of the F-150 Raptor will go up from the thirteenth generation because of the switch from SuperCab to SuperCrew as the one and only body style. Also important to mention, the VIN decoder lists the newcomer for the 2021 model year, the first model year for the Gen 14.

In hindsight, axing the SuperCab shouldn’t come as a surprise. Most F-150 Raptor customers choose the SuperCrew version, and a niche product with fewer options also translates to cost savings. On the other hand, the smaller length and smaller wheelbase of the SuperCab make it a little better for off-road driving.

The latest information available on the 2021 Ford F-150 suggests that Job 1 is scheduled for August 17th at the Dearborn Truck Plant and September 14th at the Kansas City Plant. It remains to be seen if Ford can improve the output ratings of the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 of the F-150 Raptor, and more curious still, the twin-turbo engine is scheduled to get hybrid assistance as well. What hasn’t been confirmed, however, is if the F-150 Raptor will be available with the hybrid option.

On an ending note, remember those rumors according to which the current Raptor would be sent off with a V8-engined special edition? The hearsay started with a report from Car & Driver that cites sources within Ford.” According to them, the Predator V8 of the Shelby GT500 is the culprit.
