The Blue Oval has just presented the all-new 2021 F-150 Raptor, but an entire world was caught by surprise as the company was reluctant to offer all the specifications at once. As such, the horsepower and torque ratings remain a mystery, and it turns out these aren’t the only secrets Ford has been guarding closely.
We first saw the Ford F-150 take the Raptor mantle more than a decade ago, and ever since its inception, the high-performance series has been all about high-speed off-road running. Its third iteration has arrived, claiming even better desert capabilities, as evidenced through the brand’s official footage.
We have seen a couple of formal videos courtesy of the Blue Oval social media channels, and they’re all about that terrain the Baja mode was designed for, as well as the all-new five-link rear suspension, improved off-road wheel travel, next-gen Fox shocks, Live Valve tech, 37-inch tires, traction/handling, and the lot.
Now, it seems those little dune jumps were just the appetizer for... massive air leaps. We’re not sure if the Blue Oval took note of that 2021 Ram TRX owner/vlogger who wanted to see if the truck was able to survive massive jumps and other destructive shenanigans, but here’s a 2021 Raptor spotted catching lots of air during a commercial shoot.
Sure, the F-150 Raptor has always been labeled as being very capable of flying over any obstacles – and Ford is probably eager to showcase the features in the most spectacular way possible.
This video posted by Instagram user trophyburro catches the big truck right in the act, and we can see a red example (it’s the same color as the units in the official videos embedded below) proudly taking off into the air before nailing the landing like a pro.
Of course, given how social media works, many of the user comments seem to imply the achievement was a one-off attempt, but as far as we can tell from the footage, the F-150 Raptor seems to have survived the landing unharmed; it just needed an additional rebound to absorb the shock. Well, that new rear suspension might be up to something, after all...
