Originally believed to be revealed on June 15th, the all-new Ford F-150 for the 2021 model year is actually going to debut on June 25th. The official announcement came from product communications manager Mike Levine who didn’t forget to include the #BuiltFordTough hashtag in a Twitter post.
Initially planned to be revealed in April 2020, the fourteenth generation of the half-ton pickup truck will enter production in Dearborn towards the end of September. As such, the order books are likely to open in June or July at the latest. The question is, what can we expect from the all-new model?

Well, not much in regard to styling changes. Only the front fascia will be noticeably different from the outgoing F-150, featuring a little more garnish based on spy photos of pre-production trucks. Higher trims are akin to the GMC Sierra in terms of grille design, but they’re Fords nonetheless.

The interior is where the differences will be more obvious, starting with the larger infotainment touchscreen and SYNC 4 suite. The newest evolution of Ford SYNC features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, screens from 8.0 to 15.5 inches, 4G LTE Wi-Fi connectivity, and over-the-air updates as you may also find in a Tesla or the 2021 model year BMW 5 Series.

What’s more, the instrument cluster is a color display and the gear lever now comes with stow-away functionality. All told, it’s a very nice interior for a half-ton pickup that dominates the segment by a huge margin.

The highest-selling vehicle overall since 1981 and the best-selling truck in the United States since 1977, the F-Series will also continue to utilize military-grade aluminum alloys for its body shell. In order to gain a few MPGs, chances are more aluminum is in store to bring the weight down.

Unfortunately for F-150 Raptor fans, the SuperCrew Cabin will be the only one available for 2021 and beyond based on a leaked document. Last, but certainly not least, engine choices will mirror the current gen with the notable exception of the 3.5L HEV V6 – the hybrid twin-turbo EcoBoost.

The long-rumored 4.8 that was supposed to replace the 5.0 Coyote isn’t listed in the said document, and nor do we know what’s what about the F-150 EV that Ford teased not that long ago. Given the automaker’s relationship to electric startup Rivian, up to four e-motors should be on offer.
