The Blue Oval is reportedly starting production of the 2021 Ford Bronco (in 2-Door and 4-Door configuration) on May 3rd. Because of the alleged mix-up with a supplier, the first deliveries have also been postponed to sometime this summer. But this hasn’t stopped intrepid fans from showing us the reinvented off-roading SUV from every angle on virtually every occasion.
So far, we have seen the 2021 Ford Bronco appear in a number of different setups as there are more and more pre-production units running around for testing duties. Spotted Broncos have become a very common occurrence, but there are some drawbacks to this. For example, if they’re caught outside the factory, it’s usually very hard to get a proper look inside.
On the other hand, if they’re presented on the production floor, most likely we’ll be treated to juicy details – including bare bone assemblies – but without the chance to shine a natural light onto everything. This time around, “stars finally aligned,” as the bronco6g forum user comments, and his 1996 Ford Bronco in Eddie Bauer trim had an encounter with a 2-Door Bronco Black Diamond.
Clearly, it pays off to have friends with access to Blue Oval’s upcoming products, especially if you come prepared for the date. On this occasion, that means bringing along a reel measuring tape and finding the time to play with all sorts of interior and exterior measurements.
According to the description, the 2021 Bronco came to the meeting in Black Diamond trim, which comes in at $36,050 as the third option after the base and Big Bend versions. It’s not exactly stock, though, because the pre-production unit had been fitted with the 32-inch tires wrapped around upgraded wheels, as well as the roof rails.
Meanwhile, the forum user’s own 1996 Bronco (a high-specification Eddie Bauer model) rode on 31-inch tires and had no problem with the suspension; the SUVs were parked next to the drain, so they both seemed to lean (the stance is more obvious when checking up the older Bronco).
We’re thankful the Bronco guys took from their time to set up this comparison meet, but hopefully, next time we’re going to be treated to a set of sharper photos because the reel measurements are a bit hard to make out in some of the images in the gallery embedded above.
