After dumping most of its normal cars, Ford is all-in on crossovers and is working on a lineup that's actually larger than before. This is their rugged new compact, which is dubbed the Baby Bronco but has other names as well.
Ford Scout, Ford Adventurer, and Bronco Scout are all names we've heard for this car. And although it was initially believed to be a copy of a South American model like the EcoSport, it's not pretty clear that this is an all-new vehicle.

According to the data we have right now, the Baby Bronco is directly based on the 2020 Ford Escape, which has become too car-like to fill the gap left by the Focus. It's targetted at other compact crossovers with off-road abilities, so it's probably not a coincidence that it looks like the Jeep Compass.

The prototype spotted testing in America appears to have similar wheels and wheelbase to the 2020 Escape, but with much more fender clearance. Though heavily obscured by camouflage, the whole shape of this SUV appears to have a kind of "vintage vibe" to it, like it's been designed in the 80's with boxy lines. It contrasts with the narrow LEDs and futuristic front ends of Korean or Japanese rivals.

It looks a lot like the upcoming Land Rover Defender, though it won't make it to Europe. The C2 platform has donated its fully independent suspension, and while we don't have any engine specs, it's highly unlikely Ford will invent anything just for the Baby Bronco.

The base models should have something like the 1.5-liter EcoBoost with about 180 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. That one will be priced to compete with the Jeep Renegade 2.5-liter, so about $23,000. A higher trim of about $30,000, you should get a 2-liter turbo making in the region of 250-hp and a 200 horsepower hybrid should eventually be available too.
