2021 Chevrolet Colorado Gets a Makeover, ZR2 Looks Stunning

At a time when reports started surfacing of C8 Corvette production being affected by the UAW strike that’s crippling GM, Chevrolet decided it’s time to get its mind of negotiations and announced a makeover for one of its favorite pickups, the Colorado.

During the 2019 Method Race Wheels Laughlin Desert Classic event on October 10, the carmaker will be showing off the new look of the Colorado, and later on, at the SEMA show in November, the new version of the ZR2 will surface.

Until that time, here’s a sneak-peak of what’s new.

Chevrolet says the 2021 model year of the Colorado “debuts a new look” for the truck, and despite most of the changes being minor, the effect of them all combined is much greater. All the changes, says the carmaker, are meant to help customers better differentiate between trims.

The most significant update is the new and revised bowtie emblem that will be fitted at the from and rear of the pickup. For the WT, LT and Z71 Colorado trim levels the changes will also include updated center bars, lower fascias and new front skid plates.

The most exciting of all Colorados, the ZR2, gets a new exterior paint, Sand Dune Metallic, but most importantly it will be the only pickup in the lineup to use the lettered, flow-through Chevrolet front fascia.

Also, red tow hooks will be offered as standard.

“We’ve sold 520,000 Colorado pickups in five years through a relentless, foot-on-the-gas approach to product and feature updates,” said in a statement Bob Krapes, director of marketing for Chevrolet Trucks.

“With its new-look front end and tailgate, Colorado will now have a more aggressive appearance to match its award-winning capability.”

The revised look of the Colorado will become a common sight on America’s roads next year. Pricing will be announced closer to the launch date.
