In the fall of 2019, the new e-tron family of electric cars from Audi – a family that has a very twisted and complicated story to it – received its second member, the Sportback. In fact just a new body style for an existing nearly two-year old model, the SUV got its price tag for the American market this week.
Expected to arrive at dealerships later this summer, the Sportback has a starting price of $77,400, a tad more expensive than the regular SUV variant - on the European market, the entry-level of the Sportback retails from € 71,350.

When it was announced, this version of the electric SUV was presented with two battery versions. The e-tron 50 gets the 71 kWh battery with a 347 km (215 miles) range under WLTP, while the 55 quattro uses a bigger battery, which at 95 kWh is good for about 446 km (277 miles), also under WLTP.

Americans will however get only the more powerful version, with the range dropping under EPA estimates to just 218 miles. The electric motors on the car give it all-wheel-drive capabilities and develop a combined 355 horsepower (402 hp when the Boost Mode is engaged), and the battery can be recharged from a 150 kW station for 174 miles in 30 minutes.

Audi will launch a special version of the e-tron Sportback in the U.S., called Edition One. It will offer extras such as Plasma blue metallic paint, orange brake calipers, S-line front and rear bumpers, and a specially-designed interior.

As standard, the electric SUV uses a 12.1-inch located high up on the dashboard, used for infotainment, telephony, navigation, and settings - and another one, sized 8.6-inch beneath it, working convenience functions and climate control. Optionally the 12.3-inch Audi virtual cockpit is also available.

Full details on the American version of the e-tron Sportback can be found in the press release section below.
