The world debut is scheduled for the IAA 2019 in Frankfurt, marking “the third major chapter of strategic importance for the history of the brand” after the Beetle and Golf.

What is certain is that the MEB vehicle platform is the building block for the electric onslaught, a modular architecture that will be shared with Skoda, SEAT, and Audi within the group. The Ford Motor Company has entered an EV partnership with Volkswagen, meaning that the MEB could be shared with the Blue Oval for next-generation models.
The base price for the ID.3 in Germany will be below 30,000 euros, undercutting the Tesla Model 3 sedan as well as the Nissan Leaf hatchback. Speaking of the best-selling electric vehicle out there, the Volkswagen has five more kilowatt-hours to offer and a 330-kilometer range. Medium-sized and large options are also available, featuring 58 and 77 kWh. The WLTP range for the most expensive ID.3 is rated at 550 kilometers.
Volkswagen guarantees the battery’s capacity for eight years or 160,000 kilometers in Europe, and in the first instance, the ID.3 1ST will roll out to dealerships in the Old Continent. This special edition promises “fantastic levels of equipment” and a limited run of 30,000 examples.
