2020 Toyota Supra Rendered as 4-Door GT, Looks as Tight as a Veloster

The word "coupe" gets tossed around a lot nowadays. I mean, what are we cutting really... other than the money in our bank accounts? However, there's no denying that 2-door cars are limited in the number of people they can carry in comfort.

That's why, many years ago, Mercedes came up with the CLS-Class. It combines the sleek look of a sports car with the practical nature of an executive sedan. At least it used to; the new one is kind of boring. BMW doesn't exactly have a firecracker on its hands with the gigantic new 8 Series Gran Coupe. You kind of get the feeling that the brands are more focused on their money-making SUVs with supersized grilles and massaging seats.

Speaking of BMW, the sporting brand helped Toyota develop a new Supra, with the latest reports saying that without Bavarian engineering, it would have taken until 2021 to come out. Who knows, maybe it would have been different from a technological perspective. But the design would have been the same since it was previewed many years ago by the FT-1 concept.

But what if the Supra wasn't a four-door version of the BMW Z4? Today, the Russian website Kolesa answers that question in a way, with a rendering of the funky-looking 4-door Supra.

The proportions of this car are weird on so many levels. For example, the size of the hood is strange in relation to the stretched double-bubble roof. Also, the rear doors seem too small to allow people to enter and exit the car. In this situation, coach rears doors are better, like the ones on the old MINI Clubman or the Hyundai Veloster.

But it's not like people are/were dying to buy those cars, so there's no point in stretching the Supra to make it accommodating. At the end of the day, sports cars are for the "selfish."

But what body derivative do you think the new Toyota needs? Our vote would go towards either a limited-edition speedster or a targa-style convertible, a bit like the MX-5 RF. Also, a Shooting Brake would be nice, but Toyota never messes with that stuff.
