Since it came out six years ago, people have found various ways to connect the GT86/Scion FR-S to the legendary AE86 from Initial D. However, that doesn't mean you can't get away with a tofu delivery 2020 Supra.
A rendering by Jonsibal does just this, applying the now-famous white and black paint scheme to the brand new Supra sports car. Would that stop bros from making the "nice BMW" joke? Probably not, but at least they can make fun of you for a different reason.

Normally, Toyotas are associated with reliability and hybrids, but every once in a while, they produce a car that has a pulse. This one was only possible thanks to a collaboration with BMW, and even though the drivetrain is the same as the Z4 roadster, Japanese reviews have shown the Supra is better at drifting than its Bavarian counterpart.

All Takumi needs now is a huge bonus, as the new Supra is way more expensive than the modified AE86. But since being vegan is way more popular now, and "premium tofu" is a thing, he might have turned his drifting skills into a successful brand of soybean-based nutrition.

Initial D started in 1995 as a comic book, back when drifting was at its peak of popularity. This also coincides with glory days of the A80, which is the most recognizable Supra generation. Fans of the series might even remember Hideo Minagawa's white beast.

Regardless, the story follows young student Takumi Fujiwara that works as a gas station attendant by day and as a delivery boy for his father’s tofu shop early in the morning for five long years. For the job, he uses a modified Toyota Sprinter AE 86 Trueno which he also uses to drift, and his skills eventually catch the eye of local aficionados.

Initial D was the show that put many in touch with their inner drifter, showing how details as small as leaves or rain can change the way a car takes a corner. The cars are just as iconic as the goofball characters, and without the show, we doubt Toyota would have had any reason to reboot the AE86.
