With tuners rushing to get the 2020 Toyota Supra into the 9s quarter-mile arena and beyond, many are focusing on adding power. And while the BMW B58 straight-six is definitely tuning-friendly, one has to ensure the newfound muscle also gets translated to the asphalt.
Of course, we're talking about the kind of wheel and tire package that's designed for straight-line shenanigans. And we can now zoom in on an Mk V Supra that has been gifted with just that.

We'll start at the rear end, where all the action happens - the sportscar has received beadlock wheels, with the new shoes coming from an US developer called Belak Industries.

This type of rims, which is popular among drag racers and offroaders alike, secures the bead of the tire to the wheel, usually via a ring and plenty of bolts that help this clamp the tire to the wheel.

Of course, we must also mention the rubber and, at least in the current application, it looks like we're dealing with 275-section Mickey Thompson rear units.

Then again, you don't need full-width front wheels/tires for sprinting, since these obviously add rolling resistance and weight. Well, the drag pack fitted to this Toyota Supra involves slim front units.

Speaking of the scale footprint, it looks like turning to this solution will shed some 60 lbs compared to the factory setup of the machine.

And yes, the visual aspect is also part of the shenanigan, as you'll get to notice in some of the Instagram pics below (a part of these come from P2 Tuned, the developer who runs the turning-into-a-racecar Supra).

In case you're wondering, aftermarket developers are currently in the race to bring the new Supra into the 9s arena. And given the fact that the toy can deliver 10s runs on the stock turbos, this mission shouldn't be difficult.
