2020 Toyota Supra Drives from Dealership to 1/4 Mile Drag Strip, Does 12.5s

With a $60,000 mid-engined Corvette being revealed, some people forgot all about the exciting new Toyota Supra. Of course, the community surrounding it didn't, and one enthusiast drove one straight from the dealership lot to the quarter-mile drag strip.

More specifically, somebody Georgia some 700 miles to Bradenton motorsports park to be the first consumer Toyota Supra to run down a 1/4 mile drag strip. But is it? It's not the first to do a drag race, as the British at Carwow already put it up against the BMW Z4. But the GR Supra is a little different anyway.

Without even leaving the car after the trip, the two guys shoot down the runway for an unimpressive quarter-mile time of 14 seconds. After getting rid of the dead weight, the driver tries a bunch of things with the launch control and traction control. Apparently, the best thing to do is to let the electronics help out a little because it wants to spin and lose grip - launch on, traction off.

They try a bunch of little things, like cooling the engine and filling the tires with nitrogen. Stock, it seems to want to do 12.5 seconds at 109 miles per hour. It's not mind-blowing; you can get that from a stock Camaro SS.

The next step would be to have it tuned. We know the stock output numbers are underrated, but this 3-liter turbo can easily make 450 HP, perhaps with the help of the new exhaust we spotted. Maybe some drag tires would help too. But we just want the fake exhaust to be deleted first. Hearing the BMW speakers blasting that nasty stuff is like dealing with the i8 hybrid all over again.

By the way, if you've never seen a new Supra do a burnout, it's worth checking this out. At one point, it almost even crashes.
