2020 Toyota Supra Does 11s 1/4-Mile Run with Just a Tune, Makes Serious Power

Now, before anybody points out that customer deliveries for the 2020 Toyota Supra have only recently started, allow me to remind you that the Japanese carmaker's new halo model was basically born tuned. And I'm referin to the 2JZ engine swap done by Japanese pro slider Daigo Saito, who turned the Supra into a drift car earlier this year. Nevertheless, we're here to talk about drag racing.

In factory form, the Mk V Supra can play the quarter-mile game in 12.3 seconds. Well, the sportscar has now been taken into the deep side of the 11s arena.

To be more precise, the Supra we have here managed to deliver an 11.54s run, with a maximum speed of 121 mph.

Of course, this is not magic at work, but rather a Toyota that has been taken down the aftermarket path. This Supra was massaged by AMS Performance, a specialist that's famous thanks to its work on the Nissan GT-R (its efforts go all the way to world-record Godzillas with north of 3,000 horsepower).

As for the bits and pieces fitted to the RWD toy, the BMW-supplied 3.0-liter turbocharged straight-six has been gifted with an ECU tune, while sipping on mixed-octane fuel.

Thus, the unit jumps to a meaty 452 hp and 461 lb-ft, with these being the numbers at the rear wheels - we can expect the crank hp to sit at around 520 ponies. For the record, the Supra offically has 340 hp at the crank, but dyno tests have shown that its real-world output actually sits higher.

Of course, that muscle has to be translated into forward momentum, which is why this Toyota Supra was fitted with drag radials.

Much to nobody's surprise, the race to make the 2020 Supra quicker/faster (that would be ET and Trap Speed, respectively) won't stop here, so we should see you at the 10s landmark folks.

Note that while the first clip below showcases the said 1/4-mile run (you'll get to see numbers from the Draggy drag racing tool), the second video portrays the Supra working out on the dyno.
