Teased as the third body style after the hatchback and station wagon, the 2020 Toyota Corolla Sedan will premiere on November 16th at the Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition. The U.S. specification shouldn’t differ too much from the Chinese model, and as far as the oily bits are concerned, the M20A-FKS should be the one and only engine on offer.

Priced at $19,990 and previously known as the Corolla iM, the Corolla Hatchback with the 2.0-liter Dynamic Force engine develops 168 horsepower at 6,600 rpm and 155 pound-feet at 4,800 rpm. Two trim levels are available for the 2019 model year, which is four more than the sedan.

The four-door model, on the other hand, ships with the 2ZR-FE engine, translating to 1.8 liters of displacement, up to 140 horsepower, and 128 pound-feet of torque. As with every other Corolla, the sedan can be had with a continuously variable transmission that’s more reliable than the CVTs from Honda and Nissan.

As far as manufacturing is concerned, Toyota announced an investment of $170 million in the Blue Springs facility in Mississippi, which will create 400 new jobs in the process. The Corolla will also be manufactured at a factory in Alabama starting from 2021, a facility co-owned by and where Mazda plans to make the CX-3.

Over in Europe, both the hatchback and station wagon are available as hybrids. The Corolla also happens to be available with two hybridized engines. The 1.8-liter engine is for “a smooth, relaxed drive” according to Toyota while the 2.0-liter option promises “effortless acceleration" and "a spirited dynamic drive.”

With over 12 million Toyota drivers choosing to go hybrid, there’s no denying the 2020 model year will see the Corolla go hybrid in the United States as well. The Japanese automaker also confirmed the Corolla Sedan PHEV  on the opening day of the 2018 Beijing Motor Show, coming in 2019 with an electric range of more than 50 kilometers (31 miles).
