In case you missed Elon Musk's leaked letter to his employees, the CEO is pushing for a last-ditch effort to hit the 500,000-unit delivery goal he set for the company a few years ago.
Motivating your employees to make and deliver the cars is one thing; convincing the people to buy them, completely another. To be fair, the demand for Teslas still outweighs the supply at the moment, but you do need to offer something when you want the people to act now, in the very few days remaining in this year, rather than later.

How does $10,000 sound? No, Musk isn't sharing some of his wealth with the good people buying his products, but rather offering the chance to acquire the Full Self-Driving package free of cost, a feature that would have otherwise cost ten large ones, according to Electrek. However, there's a catch, and it's a pretty big one.

How does $10,000 sound? No, this isn't Groundhog Day, but that's the price these "lucky" Tesla owners will have to pay after the three months are gone. So, the so-called incentive is nothing more than a free sample that only lasts three months, after which you either pay or your EV is reverted to the same state it would have been in if you had bought it at any other time.

To make matters worse, traditionally speaking, Tesla's end-of-the-quarter builds also pose a risk. This ramping up of the production and delivery processes doesn't come without a cost, and it's actually the new owners who end up paying the price.

The Teslas built near the end of the quarter are notoriously faulty, and that's from a brand that isn't recognized for its build quality to begin with. However, some people might choose to ignore any potential defects and focus on the chance to try out the Full Self-Driving package free of charge, albeit for a limited time. As for the panel misalignments and doors not shutting properly, just let the Tesla Service Center solve them in the months following delivery.
