2020 Suzuki Katana Lands on American Shores at Long Beach

One of the most exciting new Suzuki motorcycles for the new model year is undoubtedly the new Katana. Officially shown for the first time in October in Cologne, Germany, the model is finally ready to be making its North American debut.
The bike will be shown this weekend, at the Progressive International Motorcycle Show (IMS) in Long Beach, alongside Suzuki’s entire 2019 lineup of motorcycles, ATVs, and scooters. After that, it embark on a tour of the country and be shown at all seven stops the IMS show has in its calendar.

Created as a means to revive the glory of the original model shown for the first time in 1980, the 2020 Suzuki Katana comes with a retro design paired to all the modern technology.

The bike rides on lightweight, twin-spar aluminum, just like most Suzuki sports motorcycles, and is powered by an inline four-cylinder engine. The former takes its inspiration from the GSX-S1000 series, while the latter comes straight from the GSX-R1000 K5.

The engines was improved so that In this model it is capable of developings 150 hp at 10,000 rpm, and a peak torque of 108Nm at 9,500rpm.

The bike comes with three-mode traction control, ABS, inverted front forks, Brembo radial-mount front brake calipers, all offered as standard.

“The all-new Katana is a great demonstration of Suzuki’s future,” said in a statement at the bike’s launch Suzuki’s president, Toshihiro Suzuki.

“There is much more to come from Suzuki, as we maintain our customer-focused perspective and bring innovative and exciting motorcycles to people around the world.”

About a week or so ago, Suzuki presented the Black version of the Katana, the second color for the bike’s body to become available.

The Suzuki Katana’s price has not yet been announced, as the bike is not expected to become available at dealers until later next year.
