2020 Supra Official Photos Leaked by Toyota Germany?

According to a member of the SupraMKV board, Toyota Germany sent these two photos out to people who had signed to an email newsletter/waiting list. Immediately after posting, this was replicated by other people who received the same images.

These shots are digitally-created or enhanced, and the background matches that of the already revealed Supra race car. This, in turn, caused some to suggest that the photos are fake.

On top of that, the design differs slightly from the snaps of the Supra which came out only four days ago. But we figure those showed the American car, whereas this red model is for the European market and may also have a GR body kit. We also find similarities with the engine teaser video.

BMW-derived or not, the new Supra is a sexy-looking machine with muscular arches and plenty of design elements from the FT-1 concept that previewed it all those years ago.

Underpinned by a platform co-developed with the Germans, the Supra will be powered exclusively by BMW engines. Of course, the launch will focus on a 3-liter inline-6, which in the Z4 M40i makes 382 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. The Supra version may have 340 hp at first, but a tuned track-oriented model is sure to up the ante.

The cheapest Supra will cost about $50,000, but a few months down the line, Toyota is likely going to offer a four-cylinder model as well. For the record, the new Z4 has a base 20i version with 197 HP and a 30i one with 258 HP.

The sports car market is undoubtedly experiencing a rebirth with Porsche Cayman-rivaling machines flooding in. However, we predict the Supra's biggest headache will be not the Z4, but the M2 Competition with its twin-turbo setup.
