The slow unveiling of Skoda’s first new nameplate in years, the Scala, continues this week with a new set of photos showing more of the car’s interior.
The dashboard of the hatchback has already been previewed at the beginning of the month when the Czech carmaker showed off the 9.2-inch touchscreen of the infotainment system, framed by a design line meant to echo the contours of the bonnet. It is the largest such screen in its segment.

In this new set of pics, we get to see more of the interior, including the seats, the interior of the doors and detailed shots of the dashboard, the screen, and gear stick.

A close look at the photos reveals some more details about the car, including the fact that it will be equipped with driver assistance systems – Park Select button is visible – and will benefit from more than one driving modes.

Engine wise, the car will come with five engine choices, all turbocharged: three gasoline - 1.0-liter 95 ps, 1.0-liter 115 ps, and 1.5-liter 150 ps - and one diesel, 1.6-liter 115 ps.

The new Scala follows closely the design of the Vision RS concept shown in September. In terms of size, it is smaller than the Octavia, for instance, but offers similar interior space. The car will also come with the largest trunk in its segment, 467 liters (1,410 liters with the rear seats folded down).

Just as more premium cars the likes of the Superb and even Rolls-Royce, the Scala will come with an umbrella compartment, complete with an actual umbrella.

For some reason, Skoda will show the car on December 6 in Tel Aviv, Israel. That’s next week, so look out for more details in the days ahead.

The model is to act as a preview of future Skoda models, marking the “beginning of a new brand identity which is as emotive as it is functional,” says Skoda.
