On November 11, Skoda is said to be introducing the fourth generation of its best selling model ever, the Octavia. The reveal, which will come just a few days after the planned unwrapping of another top model of the Volkswagen Group, the Golf VIII, is set to bring forth "more emotional appeal than ever before.”
If we are to judge only by the images released by the Czech manufacturer, then we can clearly see the new Octavia is going for a coupe-like design, and a very aggressive appearance provided by the oversized wheels and rebooted front end. It remains to be seen if the actual car keeps this look.

As far as powertrains are concerned, nothing official has yet been made public yet, but it's likely no major developments will be seen on this front, aside perhaps for the rumored addition of a hybrid powertrain.

The Octavia nameplate mostly sells in Europe and China  and is perceived as a somewhat diluted, cheaper version of the Volkswagen Passat, despite sharing its platform with the likes of Golf or Seat Leon. But its success is undeniable.

The first generation of the Octavia met the road for the first time in 1996 as a continuation of a nameplate that has been around since 1959. For its first year on the market, the model barely sold 20,000 units in Europe, but that was just the beginning.

Slowly, people started being attracted by what the car had to offer and the numbers quickly rose into the hundreds of thousands. Ever since 2014, Europeans need over 200,000 Octavia per year, and Skoda is happy to provide them.

With such big shoes to fill, there's no room for error in the design and capabilities of the new generation, and it's almost certain that Skoda went out of its way to create a suitable successor to the king of its lineup.
