2020 Renault Captur Leaked in China, Looks Fresh

The success of the first generation Captur must have surprised even Renault. However, the little crossover is entering its second generation soon, following the lead set by the Clio 5.

Photos of this all-new Captur model have been posted by the Chinese website Autohome. And although Renault may not have liked this, forcing them to take the post down, we discovered the photos on the Worldscoop forum anyway.

The focus of the gallery is this single clear photo of the back, where the model has sprouted some angular C-shaped taillights. Their design has been compared to the new Toyota Corolla hatchback. However, somebody also pointed out that the Megane 3 also had this look.

The front seems more like an evolution, though Renault has added those LED monkey tails to the headlights. Overall, the Captur II seems more sporty, helped by a "floating" roof and optional 18-inch wheels.

Just like the exterior design, the specs might not be the same for the European model, but we'll share them anyway. Apparently, the Clio's bigger brother is 4,263mm long, 1,797mm wide and 1,593mm tall, with a 2,638mm wheelbase. We know that some of that doesn't sound right. China will have access to only two versions of the new 1.3-liter turbo engine, one with 133 horsepower, and the other with 159.

We think the European range will start with the 100 HP 1-liter turbo, available with a CVT, followed by 130 and 150 HP versions of the 1.3 TCe. For diesel, the Captur will share the 1.5 Blue dCi with other Renault models. An RS version is possible but hasn't been confirmed yet.

There are no interior photos available at this moment, but we expect to see the same dashboard setup as the Clio. The only major difference will be a reclining function for the rear seats and drive mode selector for the grip control system (the Captur is still FWD-only).
