2020 Range Rover Evoque Spotted in Traffic, Shows Sleek New Headlights

Take a look at the current Range Rover Evoque. Would you say that the premium compact SUV has an aging design? Despite the baby RR having landed about seven years ago, the thing still looks fresh. Then again, with the ever-increasing crossover demand bringing spicier competition, Land Rover can't rest on its laurels. In fact, the automaker is doing quite the opposite, as it is almost ready to introduce the second generation of the Evoque.

The latest spy video shows the SUV doing its testing thing on German streets and it's obvious that we're dealing with an evolutionary design.

We're expecting the Evoque to borrow quite a few styling cues from the Velar, but we're also hoping for something different - in our book, the Velar stretches the Range Rover design a bit too much, favoring the head-turning effect over the traditional styling cues and risks diluting the badge.

The newcomer will up the ante on the cabin space front. The machine is set to pack a longer wheelbase, along with wider tracks and all the passengers will get to enjoy extra room, while the luggage capacity will also be increased.

Speaking of practicality, you shouldn't expect the new Evoque to be offered in three-door form. You see, Land Rover has already discontinued the so-called Coupe, since the lifestyle sales have been grabbed by the Convertible version (this should live on), while the volume sales are obviously covered by the five-door model.

Under the hood, we'll find Jaguar Land Rover's turbocharged four-cylinder gas and diesel Ingenium engine. A hybrid model is also expected, with this set to use 48V architecture and mix a three-cylinder 1.5-liter engine with a small electric motor.

Land Rover is expected to introduce the second-generation Evoque by mid-2019, with this set to land in the US as a 2020 model.
