If it’s looks and comfort you want in a heavy-duty pickup truck other than towing capacity, look no further than the Black Edition of the Ram HD. New for the 2020 model year although we’re edging closer and closer to 2021, this workhorse isn’t exactly cheap at $62,745 excluding freight.
“A sophisticated, monochromatic appearance package” according to its maker, the Black Edition is designed to “appeal to a significant segment of luxury truck buyers.” As the name implies, black is the name of the game as far as the wheels, badging, and exterior accents are concerned. Based on the Limited trim, this fellow is available with single and dual rear-wheel options.

The DRW is that little bit more special thanks to machined eyelets, and obviously, Ram offers the Black Edition in both rear- and four-wheel-drive configurations. The engine list kicks off with the 6.4-liter HEMI V8, continues with the 6.7-liter Cummins turbo diesel, and tops with the H.O. option.

Specifying the Hight Output translates to an earth-shattering 1,000 pound-feet of torque, translating to 1,356 Nm in the metric system. This offers up to 35,100 pounds (15,921 kilograms) of towing capacity and 7,680 pounds (3,484 kilograms) of payload. Scheduled to arrive at U.S. dealers in the third quarter, the Black Edition features link-coil suspension in the 2500 while the 3500 offers a supplemental rear airbag system and leaf springs.

"Ram is committed to continuous improvement and that includes looking for ways to deliver unique models with features and durability that continue to win over more and more buyers,” said head honcho Mike Koval Jr about the heavy-duty newcomer. “The new Ram HD Limited Black Edition is another example of how we deliver the most luxurious pickups in the industry."

Curious what the Limited trim level offers as standard? An exclusive grille design serves as the starting point, followed by a power side step, LED headlights and taillights, genuine leather upholstery and aluminum accents, and Uconnect infotainment. The 12-inch touchscreen is a must-have option that bundles SiriusXM with 360L on-demand service and a 12-month trial.
