Porsche is set to introduce the 992 generation of the 911 later this week, with the new Neunelfer set to make its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show. However, the venue will bring us the Carrera (S) incarnation of the rear-engined machine, while we'll have to wait for next year to meet the 2020 911 Turbo and the 2020 911 GT3.
Fortunately, prototypes of the next-gen Turbo and GT3 have already been spotted testing across the world, with these test cars now running around in pre-production trim.
A sighting of the kind comes from the US, where a 2020 Porsche 911 Turbo was caught alongside a 992 Carrera (S) while they were getting a quick wash.
As you'll notice in the Instagram post below, the Turbo shows its widebody posterior, along with the much-debated rear wiper - while certain aficionados adore the practicality of the latter, others think it ruins the line of the car.
The aficionado who snapped the photos of the German supercar also dropped the tale of the spotting: "Just caught a 992 Turbo making a test run. Just seconds after I capped these snaps a nice man runs up behind me and say: “No more pictures! This is America and I can’t stop you from taking pictures but as a gentleman can you please not take any more pictures,” It took all my restraint to acknowledged his request and these rear pics were all I got. There was also a “non-turbo” in front of it that looked similar,"
Note that those of you looking for a more complete view of the 2020 911 Turbo (active aero action and all) can check out this Nurburgring testing video.
In its quest for efficiency, Porsche could drop the TT 3.8-liter flat-six of the current car, introducing an all-new engine.
As for the Turbo S, this could become the Turbo S E-Hybrid, as it has been the case with the Panamera and the Cayenne.
