Porsche is almost prepared to introduce the 992 incarnation of the Neunelfer. However, while the Carrera models are set to land in the following months, we'll have to wait for next year to meet the 2020 Porsche 911 Turbo.
And since we enjoy helping you Porschephiles pass the time, we've brought along a fresh batch of spyshots, which portrays a 911 Turbo Cabriolet in traffic.

Sure, the soft top Turbo has been spotted doing its testing thing before, with the supercar having been spied on the Nurburgring. But this time around, the prototype was caught driving around with its top down. Note that the rear windows were also down, which means we can getter a better view of the stored textile roof, which seems to come in blue for this test car.

While the 992 Carreras will be animated by slightly upgraded versions of the 3.0-liter turbocharged motors that power the 991.2 models, we can't say the same about the Turbo.

That's because we expect the Germans to retire the TT 3.8-liter of the current car, with its civilian anti-lag system and its variable geometry turbocharging. In the race for meeting the ever-increasing emission standards, the 911 Turbo could get an all-new engine.

As for the Turbo S, the badge could turn into the Turbo S E-Hybrid, following the path set by the Panamera and the Cayenne. For one thing, the carmaker has already confirmed the hybridization of the next-gen 911, albeit without providing further details.

Of course, Porsche could simply offer a 911 4 E-Hybrid with Carrera S/Carrera GTS levels of performance and a focus on efficiency, skipping the plug-in hybrid range-topper mentioned above.

Until we get our hands on more info, we'll remind you that the 2020 Porsche 911 GT3, which will also land next year, has already been spied. And yes, the GT Division animal is expected to maintain its naturally aspirated heart.
