With the Carrera incarnations of the 992 Porsche 911 set to arrive by the end of the year, we need to remind you that two other derivatives of the next-gen Neunelfer are also out there, testing. We're referring to the Turbo, as well as to the GT3 and we're here to focus on the latter.
We've already brought you spyshots of the 992-gen 911 GT3 and the time has come for the prototypes to set wheel on the Nurburgring, as you can notice in the spy photo gallery above.
For now, the GT3 sports the active rear wing of the Carrera models (this somehow reminds us of the 959), but you can expect the production model to pack the traditional fixed wing.
Nevertheless, there are at least two clues that give the GT3 away. The first comes from the center-lock wheels of the tester. Speaking of which, the material filling the wheel arches of the prototype shows this is performing wheel clearance tests.
Then there's the central exhaust layout, different to the side tips seen on the Carrera and Turbo 992 testers, with this being a tradition for the badge.
Speaking of which, we're expecting the GT3 to maintain its naturally aspirated form despite the generation change. The German automotive producer has mentioned that it will keep the N/A motor alive for as long as possible but didn't deliver specific information.
The manual gearbox, which retuned for the 991.2 incarnation of the GT3, will also find its way into the 2020 model, so stick shift fans have reasons to jump for joy.
